Shobhbana Thekkeppat writes from Chalakudy:
We too belong to Thekkeppat family from Chalakudy. There are several Thekkeppat families in and around Chalakudy – like Pariyarama, Poolani and Kuttichira, in addition to several other locations in Thrissur and Palakkad dists. May be other north kerala districts (Malabar) too.
We are eager to learn about the exact location Thekkeppat Family origin.
Our initial home works lead us to the root locations in Pazhayannur (where we could not find any moola kshetram), Athippatta and later to Mangottu Kavu in Palghat dist where we noticed a huge temple. However, we still believe that the Moola Kudumbam of Thekkeppat could be in the North Malabar because some of the Chalakudy family members are using T.P. (initials) as the prefixes to their name (like T.P. Ravi, where T.P. stands for Thekkeppat Puthenveedu), a naming convention normally noticed in North Malabar(Kozhikode, kannur, kasarkode dists) and also in Palghat. Normally in TCR and EKM (+ other southern dists) dists, the naming convention used to be “mother’s “ tharavad name following father’s name + the member’s name = eg., T.V. Ravi (where the initials T.V. stands for “Thekkeppat” “Venugopalan” + Ravi – But remember – “father” Venugopalan is not from Thekkeppat family to which the mother belongs to.
So please, if any of the Thekkeppattu family members from north malaber happen to view this postings, kindly respond indicating the actual status of Thekkeppat in their area + if there is any moola kshethram in that area.
Thanks for reading and responding.

HELLO THEKKEPTANS
Has anyone traced the origin of Thekkepatans- have some inputs which take our roots to Koottanadu(Valluvanadu) -one thavazhi of Pazhayannur Thekkepat is an off shoot of Thekkepotta Thekkepatans, who along with Kazhani Thekkepatans came out from Athipotta Thekkepat- Our Family Deity is Mangot Bhagavathi where we are supposed to pay the "Adima panam" whenever we visit that temple-
Dr. Gopinath's mother Late Chinnammu Amma was my grand mother Late. Devaki Amma's cousin; there is another cousin at Plazhy near Pazhayannur happy to share my inputs to all those have branched out from Valluvanadu - we all still speak the valluvanadan bhasha no matter wherever we stay! welcome to contact me mani2sethu@yahoo.co.in or thekkeppatsethu@gmail.com
